- Extensive resort with excellent facilities
- Great choice for families and mixed groups
- Two private beach lidos with direct access to the sea
- Five restaurant choices
- PADI dive school, kids' club and spa facilities
- Walking distance from Paceville
The Westin Dragonara sits on its own peninsula between sandy St George’s Bay and central St Julian’s, just steps from the bustling bars and clubs of Paceville.
St Julian’s is full of restaurants and shops, and the resort is just a 10-minute walk from Spinola Bay, where the traditional Maltese boats bobbing in the harbour are a reminder that this was once just a quiet fishing village.
There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel, and an extensive network connects you with Malta’s main sights, including the honey-golden streets of the capital, Valletta, and the atmospheric city of Mdina.
You have plenty of choice when it comes to accommodation, with 340 rooms and suites offering up to three bedrooms. All rooms have a private balcony or terrace with sea views, and include a flatscreen LCD TV, WiFi, mini bar, safe and tea/coffee making facilities. Some suites also have a kitchenette, and the spacious Dragonara Suite opens onto a terrace with an outdoor whirlpool bath and rain shower.
There are two outdoor pools, each set in a private beach lido with direct access to the sea. Other facilities include a PADI dive school, casino, kids’ club and a fitness centre with an indoor pool, saunas and steam rooms. The Beauty Clinic offers facials, massages, manicures and more, and in-room spa treatments are also available.
The breadth of culinary choice keeps things interesting, with five different restaurants ranging from the seafood-focused fine dining of Quadro to the Italian and Maltese fare on offer at Palio’s. The OVRM Lounge & Piano Bar does a great afternoon tea, and The Boathouse Lounge serves tapas and fine wines in a picturesque waterfront setting.

Pool or Beach...?
Although Malta is blessed with many miles of beautifully rugged coastline, the island is not especially known for its beaches. The Westin Dragonara has found an elegant solution to this problem in the shape of its two private beach lidos, Bay View and The Reef Club, which include outdoor pools, Jacuzzis, kids’ paddling pools, sun loungers, pool service and direct access to the waters of the Mediterranean. Although the beaches here are mostly rocky, there is a small sandy cove at The Reef Club, which is great for kids who want to paddle in the sea.
How to get here...
You can fly direct from various UK airports to Malta, with carriers including British Airways, Air Malta and easyJet. Flight time is approximately 3 hours 15 minutes.
The Westin is located on its own peninsula between St George's Bay and central St Julian's, around 20 minutes’ drive from Malta International Airport.
A hire car is useful for exploring the island and free parking is available at the hotel. Drive 20 minutes to the ferry terminal and explore Malta's sister islands of Gozo and Comino.
