Shinta Mani Angkor

Siem Reap - Cambodia

Shinta Mani Angkor is a seriously stylish boutique hotel in the heart of Siem Reap’s lively French Quarter, with eye-catching Khmer-inspired interiors by US architect Bill Bensley.

The design marries ancient Angkor with contemporary cool, and the soothing atmosphere is just the tonic after a day traipsing around temples in the heat. Chill out by the pool, treat yourself to some time at the spa and sample the mouthwatering cuisine at the excellent Kroya restaurant.

Shinta Mani’s central location is ideal for exploring the markets, restaurants and bars of Siem Reap, including the city’s burgeoning LGBT scene, and this is also a hotel with a conscience, with a charitable foundation that invests in community education and healthcare projects.

Nearby Attractions

Shinta Mani Angkor is situated amongst the elegant colonial architecture of Siem Reap’s French Quarter, just a 10-minute walk from the Old Market, the Night Market and the restaurants and bars of Pub Street.

It’s 15 minutes by taxi or tuk tuk to the temples of Angkor, including the majestic city of Angkor Thom, jungle-covered Ta Prohm and the iconic towers of Angkor Wat, designed to resemble the five peaks of the mythical Mount Meru.

How much time you need to devote to Angkor depends on your level of interest; it’s possible to see all of the main sights in a single day’s tour, but equally you could spend several days exploring the sprawling ruins. Either way, it’s well worth getting up early for sunrise at Angkor Wat.

Shinta Mani Angkor is a genuinely boutique hotel, with just 39 stylish and contemporary rooms. All accommodation comes equipped with a flatscreen TV, WiFi, iPod dock, mini bar, safe and tea/coffee making facilities, and many open onto a balcony or private garden.

The gorgeous black-tiled pool is an inviting place to cool off, and there’s a pool bar serving cocktails, smoothies and light snacks throughout the day. The charms of the spa are impossible to resist, with a fantastic menu of treatments based on traditional Khmer healing rituals.

Kroya (meaning ‘food’ in Khmer) is the hotel’s sublime signature restaurant, where you can dine indoors or outside on one of the unique swing tables. Don’t miss the amazing seven course Khmer tasting menu! Bensley’s Bar, on the second floor overlooking the courtyard, is the place for cool cocktails and tasty tapas.

Shinta Mani Angkor offers a whole host of excursions and activities, including sunset cruises on Tonle Sap Lake, visits to fascinating floating villages, tours by oxcart or Vespa, and cookery classes where you can source fresh ingredients from a local market and create your own tasty Khmer lunch.

A good way to learn how to cook, different foods, and taste flavors you have never tasted before. With a cooking class.
