Kimpton Mason & Rook

Washington DC - USA

Summary

Housed in a former apartment building in the heart of downtown DC, the Kimpton Mason & Rook Hotel is a characterful and cosy urban retreat.

Designed to feel like the inviting home of a style-conscious friend, there’s a warm and intimate ambience to the hotel. The spacious rooms are bigger than most in Washington, and the elegant décor makes generous use of dark woods, subtle lighting and worn leathers.

The Kimpton group is well known in the States for its LGBT-friendly ethos, and the location just off bustling 14th Street is convenient for both sightseeing and nightlife. The gorgeous rooftop pool is the icing on the cake, with great views of the city skyline.

Description

The hotel’s previous life as an apartment block means that the 186 rooms and suites offer plenty of space, with the feel of a plush urban pied-à-terre. All rooms have a flatscreen HDTV, WiFi, yoga mats and marble bathroom with walk-in shower, and the suites also have a soaking tub, Jawbone Jambox Bluetooth speaker and separate living area.

The rooftop pool is available exclusively to hotel guests, open during summer, and there’s a rooftop bar and lounge serving fine wines and craft cocktails. Keep fit at the gym or on one of the complimentary bicycles, and unwind with an in-room spa treatment.

Radiator is a classy cocktail bar that also serves small plates and breakfast daily, with an airy outdoor patio. Private dining is available in various spaces around the hotel, and there is a complimentary hosted wine hour every evening for hotel guests.

The 14th Street Corridor

The stretch of 14th Street Northwest between Thomas Circle and U Street has been transformed in recent years, and is now one of downtown DC’s most happening neighbourhoods. Once the haunt of jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, the 14th Street corridor has become a hotspot for in-the-know foodies, night owls and luxury shoppers, as well as a great location for an afternoon of people-watching.
