Sitges - Spain

Calipolis is a great choice for a relaxing break in Spain’s most famous gay resort town, with a prime beachfront location in the centre of Sitges.

The hotel is large and modern, offering comfortable accommodation and fantastic sea views at an affordable price. Facilities include a small pool and two excellent restaurants, with a relaxed and peaceful vibe that the town’s more party-focused hotels often lack.

Staff are friendly and welcoming, and this is a popular choice with the many LGBT travellers who flock to Sitges over the summer. The central location is perfect for exploring the town’s cultural attractions and eating out at the many excellent restaurants, as well as sampling the notoriously hedonistic nightlife should you wish to.

Sitges has over 25 beaches and coves to choose from, and Calipolis is on the main seafront promenade, just steps from the popular Gay Beach. The legendary nightlife peaks in July and August, but if you don’t fancy the clubs there are plenty of excellent restaurants and more low key bars.

There are also some great museums and galleries nearby, including the Fundació Stämpfli, which focuses on 20th century art, and the eclectic Museu Cau Ferrat, with a collection that includes works by Pablo Picasso.

Beyond Sitges itself there are plenty of active pursuits on offer in the rugged Garraf National Park, including hiking and mountain biking, and the wonderful city of Barcelona is just 35 minutes away by train.

The majority of the hotel’s 170 rooms have balconies with sea views, and offer comfortable and spacious accommodation. In your room you’ll find amenities including a smart TV, WiFi, mini bar and safe, and there are interconnecting options available for families. The spacious Penthouse Suite opens onto a large private terrace and has a double Jacuzzi in the bathroom.

Facilities include a small outdoor pool and sun deck, just a short stroll from the beach, plus a fitness centre and lobby lounge.

The first floor Mirador restaurant has great sea views and serves an appetising selection of Mediterranean dishes, including a popular Sunday paella menu during summer. The ground floor Ágora restaurant opens onto a pleasant outdoor terrace, and there are also two bars and the late night Lizard Music Club.
