Highlights of this wonderful city include the Uffizi Gallery, a magnificent collection of Italian Renaissance art gifted to the city by the Medici family, and the iconic Duomo cathedral, with its famous terracotta-tiled cupola.
The hotel offers a range of unique excursions, including Vespa tours and hot air balloon rides. Nearby cities worth exploring include Pisa, home of the famous Leaning Tower, and foodies’ favourite Bologna.
With just 45 rooms and suites, there is an intimate feel to Villa San Michele. Many of the original 15th century features have been preserved, though not at the expense of a few modern creature comforts.
All rooms have an HD TV, WiFi and a luxuriously appointed marble bathroom, and some also have a private terrace. The spacious Limonaia Suite has a private plunge pool, while the Michelangelo Suite once served as Napoleon Bonaparte’s headquarters in Florence!
Hotel facilities include a heated outdoor pool with wonderful views of the city, plus a fitness centre, outdoor massage gazebo and a kids’ club during the summer months. There are several different bars, including the laid-back pool bar and the elegant Cloister Bar, housed within the old monastery building. The main restaurant, La Loggia, consists of both an indoor dining room and an outdoor terrace, with incredible panoramic views. The menu is focused on classic Tuscan dishes, accompanied by an excellent wine list. The poolside restaurant provides a more informal option during the summer months, serving lunch and light bites in a relaxed outdoor setting.

Michelangelo’s statue of David, arguably Florence’s most famous work of art, is a short walk away at the Galleria dell’Accademia.
