Embraced by lush jungle on one side and an incredible white sand beach on the other, Belmond Maroma is quite simply one of the finest luxury hotels on the Riviera Maya.
If the big all-inclusive resorts leave you cold then this is the place for you, a gorgeous hacienda-style retreat infused with the spirit of Mexico. Whitewashed walls, thatched roofs and shady terraces strung with hammocks set the scene, and the secluded location helps to create a soothing and peaceful atmosphere.
Fantastically flavoursome food, faultless service and a stunning Mayan-inspired spa will convince you that there’s no need to leave the resort, though if you do venture out you’ll find you’re perfectly placed for exploring the archaeological treasures and natural wonders of the Yucatán Peninsula.
Includes return economy flights. Two people sharing a room for 7 nights, departing in April 2018. Contact us for your specific requirements. From price for guidance only, all subject to availability.

Part of Belmond Maroma’s appeal is its secluded location, and there’s not much in the immediate vicinity, although the resort offers a complimentary 60-minute bicycle tour where you can explore the jungle and look out for wildlife including coatis and spider monkeys.
The buzzing beach town of Playa del Carmen is just a 20-minute drive away, where you’ll find plenty of quirky bars, restaurants and shops selling local handicrafts.
Chichén Itzá, the most famous Mayan site in the region, is about 2½ hours away, and Tulum is an hour’s drive along the coast. Other things to do nearby include whale shark watching trips between June and September, and you can also go snorkelling in the underground sinkholes known as cenotes. The vibrant nightlife of Cancún is about half an hour’s drive away, and there are numerous golf courses along the Riviera Maya.
Belmond Maroma comprises just 63 rooms and suites, decorated in a warm Mexican style with hand-carved furniture and indigenous artwork. All rooms have a private terrace or balcony, many with a hammock, plus a sunken bath, WiFi and iPod dock. Some suites also have a private plunge pool. There are no TVs in the rooms, which adds to the feeling of restful escapism.
There are three swimming pools, including one reserved exclusively for adults, plus a fitness centre, two tennis courts and a watersports marina offering kayaking, snorkelling, sailing and scuba diving. Treatments at the amazing Kinan Spa are inspired by ancient Mayan healing rituals, and classes in yoga and Pilates are also available.
Dining at Belmond Maroma is a real treat. Start your day with coffee delivered straight to your room, followed by Dalia’s legendary handmade tortillas and quesadillas. El Restaurante is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, mixing up local and Mediterranean flavours in a seaside setting, while El Sol showcases the best in contemporary Mexican cuisine. The beachfront Freddy’s Bar stocks an astonishing variety of tequilas and mezcals, and serves superb ceviche, sushi and sashimi.

The Kinan Spa
Belmond Maroma’s crowning jewel is the incredible Kinan Spa, inspired by the healing techniques of the ancient Mayans. Facilities include nine individual treatment cabins, two couple’s cabins, a juice bar, a beauty salon and a wellness circuit with a sauna, steam room and plunge pool. Unique treatments include the Temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge that was used by the pre-Hispanic indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica to purify the body and heal the sick.
How to get here...
British Airways operates direct flights from London to Cancún, and you can also fly from Manchester with Thomas Cook. Flight time is approximately 10½ hours.
The resort is on the Riviera Maya, south of Cancún, around 30 minutes’ drive from the international airport.
A hire car is a great idea if you want to do more than just lounge by the beach, and allows you to explore freely. Free parking is available at the resort.
