Dining at Copacabana
Ken Hom’s Michelin-starred MEE restaurant serves spectacular pan-Asian cuisine, drawing on inspiration from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Japan. The Hotel Cipriani restaurant is named after the iconic Belmond property in Venice, and offers a fabulous fine dining menu showcasing the flavours of northern Italy.
Head down to the Pérgula restaurant for Brazilian and international favourites overlooking the pool, and don’t miss the legendary Sunday Brunch. The Copacabana Piano Bar is a popular spot for pre- or post-dinner drinks, with live music and a sophisticated ambience.
Rio Carnival is one of the world’s biggest parties, which culminates on Shrove Tuesday with a spectacular parade at the Sambadrome. All around the city you’ll find block parties, known as blocos or bandas, where the music blasts out from floats loaded with musicians, and revellers dance all day long in colourful costumes. Each bloco is based around a particular neighbourhood, theme or type of music, from reggae to samba to the songs of The Beatles.
How to get here...
British Airways operates direct flights daily from London to Rio de Janeiro. Flight time is approximately 11 hours 45 minutes.
The resort is at the centre of Copacabana Beach, around 40 minutes’ drive from Rio de Janeiro International Airport.
We wouldn’t recommend hiring a car in Rio; parking is scarce, traffic is heavy and driving in the city is not for the faint hearted. However, parking is available near the hotel at an additional charge if you do want to bring a car.
