Athens - Greece

Summary

This elegant boutique hotel is a masterpiece of meticulous modernism, just steps from the ancient heart of Athens.

AthensWas opened in 2015, and has quickly earned a reputation as one of the Greek capital’s funkiest hotels. We love the retro-modern style, with classic furniture from renowned designers such as Le Corbusier, and the rooftop bar offers magnificent views of the Acropolis.

The hotel is also a favourite amongst LGBT travellers, and is located within walking distance of the Gazi district, where the city’s best gay nightlife can be found.

The Acropolis

It’s hard to overstate the historical significance of the Acropolis, the spectacular group of buildings at the heart of ancient Athens. Most cities in Greece had an acropolis, a fortified core on higher ground that was easy to defend, and the Acropolis of Athens remains the focal point for the modern city, visible from just about anywhere. The most iconic structure is the Parthenon, a magnificent temple to the goddess Athena that was constructed in the 5th century BC.
