Buenos Aires - Argentina

Sister hotel to the famous Alvear Palace Hotel, this chic urban retreat is the perfect base for exploring the wonderful city of Buenos Aires.

The style is contemporary and understated, with smart rooms and fantastic views from the top floor spa and fitness area. Friendly and approachable staff deliver impeccable service, and LGBT travellers will feel very welcome here.

There’s so much going on in Buenos Aires, and the hotel’s central location in the bustling barrio of Retiro appeals to both culture vultures and night owls. Nearby Attractions

The hotel is situated in the central Retiro neighbourhood, close to the leafy Plaza San Martín. There are plenty of excellent restaurants and bars nearby, along with the elegant shopping streets of Calle Florida and Avenida Santa Fe.

It’s about a 15-minute walk to Recoleta, one of the city’s most affluent neighbourhoods and home of the famous Recoleta Cemetery. This is where Argentina’s wealthiest and most celebrated families bury their dead, and it’s also the last resting place of Eva Perón (Evita).

Other sights within walking distance of the hotel include the presidential palace, the Casa Rosada, and the rejuvenated dockside district of Puerto Madero.

The 139 rooms and suites are infused with an elegance and style that reflect the city and its sharply dressed residents. The rooms are spacious and bright, equipped with an LED TV, WiFi, Nespresso machine, mini bar and safe. The sumptuous marble bathrooms have a Jacuzzi bath and shower, and the suites also have a separate living area.

Instead of being hidden away down a darkened corridor, the spa and fitness centre is given pride of place on the top floor, with magnificent panoramic views of the city. Facilities include a sauna, hammam, solarium and a heated swimming pool with a retractable roof.

The stylish Contraluz restaurant lays on an exceptionally good buffet breakfast, and is also open for lunch. The stylish cocktail bar, Artesano, is popular with both hotel guests and locals meeting for after-work drinks.

It takes two to Tango

Argentina is famous for the tango, the sultry and steamy dance that was born in the working class districts of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The traditional image of the tango is of a man dancing with a woman, but in recent years the ‘queer tango’ movement has taken off, with more and more LGBT-friendly milongas (dance halls) springing up in barrios such as San Telmo.
